Beach Glass Garland

I saw this at a store in Newport and it was so easy to do and its a great gift idea. you only need a couple of things readily available at your local beach or Michael’s Craft Store.
I made these for Christmas!
What You Need:
Needle nose pliers (technically mine are not needle nose but they are close)
20 pieces of Beach Glass
20 gauge wire (8 yd) or more
Thats it!

What you do:
start by winding the wire around the needle nose pliers 3 or 4 times to have a starting point that is pretty and not just going to poke into something.
Then about every 4 inches or so wrap the wire around the glass, make sure to go around  a few times and then cross over and go the other way so the glass doesn’t just fall right out.
in between each use the pliers again to make a little swirl by simply wrapping the wire around the pliers and pulling apart, gently so it looks pretty.
Continue until you are out of wire or glass and make one final swirl at the end. At Christmas I put little hand made tags that said “beach glass garland” So simple!!

Now that you have the Pomegranate seeds out what can you do with them?

Well eat them of course they are delicious but while you are snacking make a vinaigrette, Wait until you see how beautiful the pom juice looks on a salad. So….Here we go!
What you need:
1/4 to 1/2 C. Olive Oil (good quality)
3 Tbls white wine vinegar  (if not apple cider vineg or champagne vineg)
1/4 pomegranate juice (you can use the store bought one if you have too)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 C. honey
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (or red pepper flakes just foe a little kick)
1/8 tsp fresh cracked pepper ( use as much as you like)
What you do:

put about a 1/4 cup of the pomegranate seeds (if you don’t know how to get them out roll to the previous blog for the seed removal)
use a big spoon, I like the one with holes in it but any will work. Just be aware they will splatter so don’t do this it a nice white dress on your way out to a party 🙂
press down and the seeds will release the juice until you have about a 1/4 cup
In a bowl big enough to whisk in, put in all the ingredients except the olive oil. and whisk
slowly add in the olive oil while whisking to thicken the dressing.
This will not thicken as much as a regular dressing does because of all the juice but it is still spectacular
I know, easy, semeesey go crazy and do this with other juices and you will be the vinaigrette king or queen of your house hold!!

Then throw a few seeds on the salad to make it look so pretty and spoon over the dressing. Then put the leftovers in a jar ( like mason jars I found at the hardware store) and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, If you have time marinate a chicken with this OMG YUM!!

I have more great ideas to come so keep looking and I appreciate the support & kind words from my fellow bloggers, What a great group of people 🙂

POM Wonderful……

Is that wonderful juice you can find  in the produce section of the store. It is in an hourglass type bottle and packs and incredible PUNCH of antioxidents and healtly good for you things and costs about $5.00. But the pomegranate fruit is left behind because people don’t know the trick….the one I know & got my husband up to demo this action shot coming up for all of you. My Grandmother had these at Thanksgiving every year and my sister Polly & I used to pull out the seeds and eat them and cover out selves in what would turn to dark pink stains on our fingers and faces. But now I hold in my typing fingers the secret you have been so desperately waiting for so!    get out your pens and note pads so you do miss a single instruction!

With out further adue………take your perfect pomegranate  hold it sideways in a cutting board (it could stain so I suggest an apron & cutting board you are willing to look at a stain on for a while, it won’t be there forever and cut the pomegranate in half with the top on one side and the bottom on the other this is step 1 of the great pom secret.  2 you take one of the halves and hold it cut side down over a large bowl. This was part 2 of the great Pop secret .  Number 3 is you hit the back of the fruit right on the skin, give it a good ol wack and the seeds fly out and into the bowl for you to juice, eat or enjoy. I am making Pomegranate Vinaigrette!! That is the final instruction in the Pom secret. This message will self destruct……………………………………..JUST KIDDING
